Another Funny-ish Episode…

November 4, 2009
Dean

Dean Betting His Years...

Last night’s episode was definitely a filler episode. Not that I didn’t enjoy it, but I think there was just a little too much fluff. Especially because I think Dean’s predicament was actually quite severe and the fact that he almost died was minimized by all the funny lines and jabs between Bobby and Old Dean.

I think my favorite line was when the young/old guy in the beginning tells the boys about the game and Sam says, “What…like X-Box?” It had me laughing out loud.

The gentlemen who plays Old Dean was good; he sort of reminded me of Clint Eastwood (and did Patrick remind anyone else of Johnny Depp?). Again, the lines between him and Bobby were good, but I sort of wish they had put old man make-up on Dean instead. I think the chemistry would have been 100% better although that may have looked fake (Dean in old man make-up).

Like I said before, the episode was definitely a filler episode, but that’s okay. I was sort of getting tired of the apocalypse story line and missed the episodes where individual hunts were focused on. Looks like next week’s episode is going to be a filler episode as well, but what I’d like to know is what the angels and demons are doing while Sam and Dean are playing poker and getting trapped in TV shows!

Onto the deep stuff:

Patrick trying to ruin Sam’s game by pulling the Big Brother/Little Brother card. And again we see Sam’s “desperation” to save his older brother, although in the end we aren’t sure if it was genuine or a bluff. As stated before, Dean could have legitimately died and the show seemed to carry on with the laughs and giggles. Sam didn’t seem too hurried or worried of this fact either. It just seemed a little pointless because we all knew as an audience Dean wasn’t going to die. It was a good storyline, but it just seemed like it would have been a good storyline a few seasons back instead of THIS season. Am I making sense?

So that’s all for now. Sorry I was late — I had to watch it online because I was working Thursday night!

There’s not much else to say — couldn’t go too in depth with this one.

Wait…What? I Thought Lucifer…

October 18, 2009
Dean Makes a Funny Face

Dean Makes a Funny Face

So because last week the previews for Supernatural said, “SOON,” I figured we weren’t going to get any new episodes for a bit. But when I tuned in to watch a rerun, I was pleasantly surprised to see a new episode.

There’s not much to say about this one on my end. But I will say this:

I am getting a bit tired of keeping track of who the main “bad guy” is. First it was Azazel, then Lilith, then Lucifer, and now Jesse (The Anti-Christ). (Well, maybe not Jesse…yet.) It’s like they want us to focus on one person but then a few months later it’s like, “Nope! We thought THAT guy was going the end the world, but we really meant THIS guy.”

Sometimes I just say to myself, “Why can’t Lucifer just blow up the world by his own means?” I feel like this war is being drawn out a little too much, and because of that, it feels unbelievable. We know that Sam has to give Lucifer permission to take over his body, but holy geez. I just feel like there’s no purpose for this Jesse character. I don’t know if I wasn’t paying attention or what, but what is he even supposed to do? Wasn’t Lucifer supposed to end the world? What does Jesse have to do with it if Lucifer is already supposed to bring the apocalypse? I’m so frustrated, lol.

I’ll also say this:

How cute was it when Castiel was turned into a little toy figurine?

Oh and…

Wouldn’t you figure the boys would have seen Jesse’s surf posters on the wall and assumed he “teleported” himself to Australia?

That’s Hot

October 9, 2009
Paris Hilton getting ready to have some fun with the boys.

"Paris Hilton" getting ready to have some fun with the boys.

I really enjoyed tonight’s episode, but not for the usual reasons. It was one of our less serious episodes and it was a nice break from the constant turmoil that the apocalypse brings on. I wasn’t too keen on Paris Hilton being on the show, but then once I realized it was a House of Wax type episode, I knew why they had her make a cameo. House of Wax was one of my favorite horror movies (and not just because Jared was in it…let’s face it, he got axed pretty early on in the film) so it was kind of nice that they made that connection. I loved the part when Jensen said, “I’ve never even seen ‘House of Wax’” and they panned in on Jared’s face, lol. It was awesome.

The ending was what I needed. I’ve been waiting for Dean to say sorry to Sam for a while. For what I didn’t really know, but there’s only so much of Dean’s machismo I can take. I love the man, but sometimes I feel really sorry for Sam. When Dean said, “I broke the first seal,” and Sam said, “But you didn’t know,” and Dean said, “Neither did you,” it was Dean’s realization that Sam wasn’t in his right mind and his willpower was pretty much shot due to his “addiction.” I’m not mad at Sam for “starting the apocalypse,” and I’m glad that Dean is getting over his anger as well.

What I really wanted to bring up though was Sam’s guilt. In the scene where Sam walks in on Dean and Bobby’s conversation, he says something like, “You will never give me as much guilt as I give myself.” (Feel free to correct me with the right line.) Out of all people, you’d think Dean would be a little more sympathetic after what he did in Hell. However I suppose the situations are different as Dean didn’t “betray” Sam when he went to Hell. He actually sacrificed himself for him. So I can see both sides of the fence.

Letting Sam drive the Impala at the end was a little too much cheese for me, but at the same time I’m glad Sam is finally getting his day. It’d be nice to see Sam making some of the decisions in the future. And to have Dean agree to his idea to face what’s directly in front of them was great. And let me back up to last week’s episode. If Zach’s glimpse into the future was indeed the future that would occur if Dean doesn’t become Michael’s meatsuit, then we can assume that future occurred because Dean was making all of the decisions. We can also assume it occurred because the boys never reunited. We are lead to believe that the only option for the boys is the future-glimpse Zach showed them or the boys becoming meatsuits. Neither option has the boys working together. So I think Dean letting Sam make some of the decisions is his realization that maybe he (alone) isn’t what is best for the world. I don’t think Sam is off that leash yet, but I see Dean’s pride diminishing bit by bit. He doesn’t want to full out give in to Zach, but he doesn’t want the future-glimpse either. A big reason why he doesn’t want that future-glimpse is because Sam is not alive in it. Dean is actively trying to alter that future and at the same time he’s mending his relationship with Sam. Everybody wins? Let’s hope.

Now I’m not too happy about the fact that the next episodes will be coming “soon.” Why not next weeek?! The previews were great though. I can’t wait.

Season 5!

September 26, 2009
Castiel Pretending to be an FBI Agent.

Castiel Pretending to be an FBI Agent.

So sorry I haven’t been writing! I got a full time job and haven’t had time to write, but I have been keeping up with season 5 of Supernatural. Since we are already three episodes in, I guess I’ll just pick up from last night’s episode.

The plot thickens as Sam and Dean go their separate ways. I couldn’t really take this seriously as we know they can’t keep the brothers apart so early in the season. I suppose they will be reunited soon, although as brothers or enemies is anyone’s guess! I love the idea of Sam vs. Dean even though I’d hate to see Sam “fall off the wagon” again, although this seems like the most logical thing to happen. As Dean being the chosen one, it seems only natural and fitting for Sam to be the other chosen one (on the dark side).

It’ll be interesting to see if/how Sam will give consent to Lucifer. Next week’s episode looks totally awesome as we will be going five years into the future!

I just have to say that last night’s episode made me laugh out loud more than once. My favorite laugh out loud moment was when Castiel brought out his fake FBI badge. The look on his face is so serious even though he’s supposed to look like a jackass. And when he tells the police officer that demons and angels are fighting around the world — it’s so funny! And don’t get me started on his face when he’s in the brothel with Dean. All funniness aside, Misha Collins is such a great actor!

I can’t wait for next week.

PS: I thought we were done with Ruby until I saw her in the pilot episode of “FlashFoward!” LOL.

Husband Vs. Jared Padalecki

June 16, 2009

The other day we were going to my step-sons’ play. Here is a funny conversation that occured between my husband and me:

Me: Do you think I look hot in these jeans?
Husband: Yes.
Me: I just want to look hot for my man.
Husband: Sorry, babe. Jared Padalecki isn’t going to be there.

HA!

The Season Finale

May 20, 2009

normal_sn422_045

I know. I’m horrible. I should have written about the season finale as soon as it ended! But I’ve been unmotivated and maybe I just wanted to pretend I wouldn’t have to wait a whole summer to see what happens with Lucifer.

Going back to my previous entry, most of my questions were answered. Castiel was going to tell Dean that they were for the apocalypse, Castiel let Sam out because Sam was meant to begin the apocalypse, and killing Lillith was not going to stop the breaking of the seals.

I know others disagree, but I love Bobby for ripping into Dean. When he called him “whiny” I let out a “Thank You!” because I totally agreed. I’m sorry but I really did think Dean was being whiny and I was getting so irritated with his stubborn attitude. But I’m glad Bobby called Dean a greater man than John, because I believe that to be 100% true. John did the best he could with what he had, but this season made me realize he wasn’t this untouchable hero I had always thought he was.

Shame on me for having faith in Ruby as I was Ruby fan. I was very disappointed and hoping until the very last minute she was good. But no. Having her profess her awesomeness at the end was so corny and irritating I wanted to puke, and the moment Sam realized he had been fooled for so long broke my heart. To me his face automatically reverted back to the face of a child and the look of fear he evoked was just so heartbreaking. I immediately felt sorry for him instead of pissed, and the guilt he is most likely going to feel is going to kill him. The solitary “I’m sorry” when Dean finally breaks in was powerful.

I don’t doubt Ruby’s love for Sam. I honestly believe she was in love with him but was hoping as soon as he saw what he had done he would side with her and turn 100% evil. But thank God her plans backfired and when Sam grabbed her from behind so Dean could stab her was the best decision he’s made the entire season. It was his moment of clarity and I’m so glad he followed through. He didn’t even have to THINK about it. He wasn’t enticed by the rewards he would receive for breaking the last seal (am I spelling seal right?) and by that we know Sam’s heart was stronger than the demon blood he was drinking.

I knew Castiel would turn around. All I can say about him right now is that he is my hero.

I can’t see how this is going to play out, but then again, I had no idea how they were going to bring Dean back from Hell either. I’m sure it’ll work out. I’ve heard season 5 is the last season, and I could see why it would be, but I really hope it doesn’t end.

Ok. My Thoughts.

May 12, 2009

I apologize for the lack of entries. I’ve been busy working and just haven’t found the time to write a proper entry! So this one is going to be short — I’m still pretty busy/tired and don’t have the energy to write a whole bunch.

Okay. So the episode before last where Dean finally sees Sam drinking demon blood:

The ending was so powerful. I’ve dealt with addiction within myself and my family, and as much as Sam doesn’t feel he is addicted to drinking demon blood, he knows his body relies on it now and he has addictive symptoms when he doesn’t have it. The fact that Dean “let go” at the end — meaning he didn’t even care anymore that his brother was being deceptive — was what so many people need to do when they have an addictive family member. He realized he had NO control over Sam. He realized it was out of his hands and that whatever happened would happen regardless of what he said or did.

And Sam’s reaction was text book addict. No matter how much Sam hates when Dean controls him, you see at the end that he is clearly upset when Dean doesn’t rip him a new a-hole. He expected it, and in away he depended on it in order to keep that resentment against his brother. It’s almost as if he needed Dean to yell at him in order to prove to himself that Dean is always trying to control him. And the fact that Dean didn’t fuel Sam’s fire was the first step in breaking the co-dependency between the brothers.

Now onto last week’s episode with Sam’s intervention:

Although the episode was both emotional and gripping, I had a hard time enjoying it. I think both brothers were being very selfish and failed to even try to understand each other at all. They both are at such pivotal points right now that they cannot work together and it’s killing me! I understand where both boys are coming from, but the fact that they were just so stubborn irritated me beyond belief. But like I said, they are at such pivotal points that maybe any hope of understanding is lost. Sam has crossed a line and it’s going to take more than Dean to reel him back in. Sam really needs to f*ck up now in order to make him realize what he’s doing — and I have a feeling it’s going to happen very soon. He has way too much pride in regards to Lillith, and destroying her and saving the world just seems way too convenient. Can Sam be that naive? In short — yes, because all he cares about is himself right now.

I also feel very lost — there’s so many things going on right now and I can’t fathom everything being tied up in the season finale. Which means I’ll most likely have to wait a whole summer to figure everything out. Will we find out why Castiel let Sam free? Will we find out what Castiel needed to tell Dean? What will happen to Anna? Is Ruby deceiving Sam? Is killing Lillith really all they need to do in order to stop the breaking of the seals? Etc. Etc.

So that’s all for now. I guess I did write a pretty long entry, but when I get going it’s hard to stop. Everyone get ready for the season finale!

Adam Winchester

April 24, 2009

normal_spn-4x19-0114

What can I say about last night’s episode of Superntural? I was  a bit disappointed but shocked and suprised at the same time, and Superatural never really lets me down.

So pretty much right away we are introduced to Adam Winchester, the third Winchester boy. The audience isn’t sure what to think – Sam seems to believe this guy is real while Dean is convinced it’s a trick. But from the very beginning I think the audience knows Adam isn’t going to be phased by the holy water and silver Dean puts on the restaurant table. This guy is real for now, and until the very end we are left guessing if this guy is going to stick around or not.

So to prove he is the real son of John Winchester, Adam brings the boys to his house and shows them pictures of him and John together.

This is where I was a bit disappointed.

Since season one I’ve wanted to believe the love between John and Mary was unique and one-of-a-kind. And even though John was gone a lot, I just couldn’t see their love dissipating. Especially when we found out Mary was a hunter as well.

So when I realized John had had a relationship with another woman after her death, I became sad. I know John needs love and has a right to love regardless of who it’s with, but it saddened me because the boys never knew about it. And I know his love for Mary probably never DID dissipate, it’d be so hard for me to find out my father was with another woman, and who could possibly love that other woman, from pictures and stories from a long lost brother.

And when Dean found out John had been visiting this kid on his birthdays and taking him to baseball games, it just broke my heart. To have Dean realize that he just never had that father/son relationship with John was heart wrenching.

But to make up for it I think as the episode progressed Dean realized maybe that was a good thing. At least Adam had that kind of relationship, and although Dean did not, he accepted that fact and was grateful that John did have the capacity to love another child and give that child a life that didn’t involve hunting. John gave Adam the life he couldn’t give Sam and Dean. I think Dean was okay with that at the end, especially when we see him giving Adam a hunter’s burial.

In the bigger picture, Dean and Sam may not have had a great upbringing, but in the end their purpose in life is so much greater than going to Stanford or getting married or having children. It’s a small price to pay when your destiny is to save lives and possibly the world. And although it makes me sad they’ll never have that normal life, John raised strong boys.

I still don’t like the fact that there was a third Winchester brother, but like Sam said, John wasn’t exactly a monk.

I’m just glad I don’t have to change my blog to samanddeanandadam.wordpress.com!

If You Seek A Dean

April 16, 2009

So this is a parody of Britney’s song “If You Seek Amy.” I changed the words around so it was “Deanified.” Try to read/sing it along to the actual tune of the song or some of it may not sound right. Hope you like it! Here are the original lyrics to compare (opens in new window).

“If You Seek A Dean”

Oh Bobby, Bobby, have you seen a Dean tonight
Is he in the im-pa-la or out with Sam to dine, oh?
Oh Bobby, Bobby, does he favor the key lime
For the pie I’m gonna buy him
Do you know just what he likes, Oh?

Tell me if you’ve seen him
‘Cause I’m so, oh
I can’t get him off of my brain
I just wanna go
To the cities he’s gun’ go
So that I can take him home
Haha, heehee, haha, ho

Hunt me, save me, do what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls
Are beggin’ to if you seek a Dean
Hunt me, save me, but don’t forget Sammy
All of the boys and all of the girls
Are beggin’ to if you seek a Dean

Dean done told me he was gonna beat you up
After watching Busty Asian Beauts’
And drinkin’ at the pub, oh
He’s got the rock salt and that look upon his face
But it’s hard to see with all the demons standing in the way, oh

Castiel I need him
‘Cause I’m so, oh
Even though he’s sometimes a pain
I just wanna go
On the hunt that he gun’ go
Kick some ass with Sam in tow
Haha, heehee, haha, ho

Chorus

So tell me if you see him
(Let me know who he was shootin’ and what it was like)
‘Cause Lucifer’s close to winnin’
(Do you know if he was takin’ the whole night?)
Oh Bobby, Bobby, if you seek a Dean tonight, oh
Oh Bobby, Bobby, we’ll make sure to stand and fight, oh
Oh, Bobby, Bobby
Oh, Bobby, Bobby

Chorus

Best. Pic. Ever.

April 13, 2009

So I had always favored long-haired Jensen over short-haired Jensen. A lot of you have probably already seen this picture, but I had to post it because it is just so great. The first time I saw it was tonight, and I think I almost died. lol. Enjoy.
